All Pervasive
The ubiquitous AndyArt features a comprehensive amount of
tutorials for creating decent quality effects in Photoshop.
There are two ways of viewing his site both HI and LOW bandwidth
which shows a good consideration of user's varying net connection
speeds. Andy doesn't take it for granted that the user has
a hard disk full of "fancy filter sets" either, which is always
a good thing because you can then use the techniques in Photoshop
without having to rely on specific tools to achieve the same
effect.
Design
Style
The look and feel of the website is also an example of "good"
website design because of the variety of ways you can choose
to navigate around the site. A no-nonsense approach to text
versus images is well balanced enabling the user to start
browsing almost immediately.
Smart
Listing Preview
Unlike many websites where they just chuck an assortment of
screen shots at the browser window and leave it at that, Andy
actually bothers to go into detail about what the clients
perceived their needs to be and how the resulting interface
he designed fitted those requirements. The knowledge of how
many times users become frustrated because they're forced
to browse by overlarge thumbnails is self evident here.
Open-and-shut
Case
It's also pleasing to note that when you click on a link to
another site you can easily switch windows to continue reading,
whilst the other link continues to load in the background.
